About Luis
I moved to the United States from South America when I was 14, back in the early 1980s. At the time, there were some English programs available for new immigrants—but honestly, they weren’t very effective. I quickly realized that if I wanted to learn English well—and fast—I’d have to take matters into my own hands. By the time I started high school just a few months later, I had a solid grasp of the language. More importantly, I had fallen in love with English.
Since then, learning to speak and understand English fluently and confidently has been a lifelong passion of mine.
Over the years, I’ve worked in telecommunications, banking, and higher education. In 2007, I joined a local Toastmasters International club to become a better public speaker. It turned out to be a perfect way to put my English skills to the test—and keep improving. In 2015, I stepped away from corporate life and launched my own business as a photographer and speaker. Then in 2020, during the global shutdown, I finally took the leap and earned a 240-hour Master Certification in English instruction through the Bridge Education Group.
Along the way, I’ve picked up countless tips, tools, and experiences to help make sense of this wonderfully complex language. I’ll be sharing many of them on my YouTube channel, and I’d love to have you along for the ride. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to sharpen your skills, I invite you to join me on your own English learning journey.
